Stourbridge Golf Club is a challenging 18 hole course that is playable 12 months of the year with excellent drainage by being built on sand - the course is invariably open when many other courses will be closed. We don't have temporary greens and we play off all of our normal teeing areas.

Our tree lined fairways mean that every discerning golfer needs to carefully choose the golf club to do the job and our greens have a number of hidden borrows that also need careful consideration when on any of the putting surfaces.
The course layout changed on 1st April 2014 with the previous 17th hole becoming our first; the old 18th became our second and then the 3rd hole was the old 1st hole, thereby moving every hole back two meaning that our closing hole – the 18th (which was previously the 16th) now comes in front of our clubhouse completing your round adjacent to our car parks for a quick and easy exit from the golf course.

Our signature hole is now the 4th - a par 4 with a stroke index of 1 for the Men and a par 5 with a stroke index of 13 for the Ladies. The hole slightly dog legs left and anything sent right side of the fairway will catch one of two bunkers. As you get to the green, there is a cross bunker right in front of the green so anything short will again find sand.

Our par 3's are some of the best in the region with the 12th hole needing the correct club selection as at 201 yards from the stone, anything falling short of the green will find trouble!

The precise date that Stourbridge Golf Club was formed is not clear due to the loss of the earliest records. The first surviving minutes of a meeting held at the Club refers to 1892. At this time it was a nine hole course built on the old Pedmore Racecourse. Later becoming 18 holes, it is a very good test of golf even for the professional golfer - stray off the fairways at your peril!

The photo above was taken on Tuesday 30th July, 2019 at 5.45 p.m. during the most torrential rainfall the Midlands had seen for a very long time when 32mm fell upon us.

The picture shows the 2nd green taken from inside the clubhouse indicating the sheer volume of rainfall we had endured. Two hours later, the surface water on the green had been absorbed and the following morning, the full course was open for our Wednesday Ladies Day with buggies being fully operational.
